A COMMUNITY group is appealing for a local celebrity to help it out on its big day later this month.
New Bury Residents Association is opening its new community centre on the Farnworth estate on May 23.
But attempts to rope in a famous face have so far fallen on deaf ears.
John McDermott, the association's publicity officer, said: "We have already asked Peter Kay and Fred Dibnah but they are both too busy.
"We have got Dr Brian Iddon MP, Bolton South East, coming down but we want a local celebrity to attend to give it a bit more glamour.
"If anyone can help us please contact me."
The new centre has been converted from an empty semi-detached house in St James Street.
It will house a drop-in advice centre, tool pool club -- where residents can loan garden and DIY tools -- and a cybercafe.
Any Bolton celebrities wishing to help should contact John on 01204 574719 or 07760 291634.
