YOU may recognise the young man on the right of this photograph, taken in 1976.
It is, in fact, the present Mayor, Cllr. Alan Wilkinson (he doesn't seem to have changed all that much in the intervening 25 years, apart from an odd grey hair!), who has forwarded the picture to me.
It shows Cllr. Mrs Susanna Harrison, a member of the Area Health Authority receiving a colour TV on behalf of the Lady Tong Clinic at Bolton General Hospital (now the Royal Bolton, of course) from Alan Wilkinson, who was at the time secretary of the Bolton Market Traders' Association. He presented the set on behalf of the Association and young people of Canon Slade School, and representatives are also shown.
