BOLTON'S top teenage five-a-side team fear they may miss out on a chance to test themselves against the best teams in the country.
The six friends, who play under the name of Breightmet United, earned the chance to pit their wits against the cream of the nation when they beat the region's top sides in Manchester.
They are due to pick up their trophy for winning the regional event when they travel to Hackney Marshes on July 14. If they get there, that is.
Their appearance in the national finals is in some doubt because of a lack of funds.
Unlike most top teams they don't have a manager or any form of organised funding. They are just six friends aged between 13 and 17 who meet up once a week to play football - and can't stop winning.
The youngsters, James Storey, John Kenyon, Dale Farramond, all aged 17, Stephen Barlow, Brendan O'Neil, both 16 and 13-year-old Leon Farramond, have an unblemished record in Bolton's Premier Fives leagues.
They won the Under-16s league three seasons in a row and moved up to Under-18s which they won in their first season and are currently six points clear in their second season.
The youngsters, who all went to Top o'th Brow Primary School and Withins High, are relishing their chance to test themselves against the best there is but unless they get a helping hand they may not be going.
Anyone willing to help raise funds can contact Maxine Storey on 526137.
