I AM still constantly appalled at the apparent lack of proof-reading at the BEN.

One reporter on the sports page -- I think it was last Saturday -- wrote of football teams having to join "a cue" to sign some player or other. And very few reporters seem to know how to use the apostrophe correctly.

One article last week had an apostrophe following almost every word which ended in 's', presumably on the principle that some of them would be right! But Thursday evening's "cartoon" by Nick Oliver was full of inaccuracies, which is particularly bad as it was plainly directed at young children. In the final frame there was no apostrophe in won't, and embarrassing and flotation were both spelt incorrectly.

I suggest that you buy Master Oliver a dictionary, send him back to school and bring back Eb and Flo. They were at least funny on occasions and their cartoonist knew how to spell.

FOOTNOTE from the Editor.

OOOPS! We do try to make sure we catch all literals and grammatical errors before they appear, but sometimes they slip through the net. We asked Nick Oliver to draw us a special cartoon -- hope you like it Mrs Rostron.
