GRAEME Souness paid tribute to Sam Allardyce for giving Blackburn a run for their money in the race for the Premiership.
"I didn't believe Bolton would push us to the end of the season," the Rovers' boss said after seeing his side secure the second automatic promotion place with a 1-0 win at Preston.
"When we went second I genuinely thought we would open up a gap but they never gave up, ground out results and pushed us all the way.
"Big Sam deserves a lot of credit for that."
Tthe Ewood boss is now rooting for his Lancashire rivals - Preston as well as Wanderers - in the play-offs. "It would be good to have as many sides from this area in the Premiership," he explained.
