A MAN from Swinton has appeared in court charged with the murder of a young father in Salford.
Paul Higginson, 23, of Sevenoaks Drive, and Stuart Grainger of Thanet Close, Salford, both deny the murder of Derek Ianson.
A jury at Manchester Crown Court heard that Mr Ianson died after two masked men -- one armed with a sub-machine gun and the other with a handgun -- opened fire.
The two men fled in a car stolen in a burglary the previous month from premises in Salford.
A total of 26 nine millimetre cartridge cases were found at the scene and all came from the same weapon -- a 9mm sub-machine gun.
The trial continues.
