WIGAN Workspace, the commercial property arm of Wigan Metropolitan Development Company, has announced a major investment and regeneration project on the site of the former Golborne Colliery. The 5.5 acre site is to be redeveloped initially to provide expansion into brand new premises for local company Glovers. Wigan Workspace is investing £650,000 to develop the new premises with another £400,000 for construction of an estate road to create three plots which will eventually provide around 200 new jobs. Local MP Ian McCartney will be on hand for the ground-breaking ceremony tomorrow.
