STRIKER Lutel James has spoken out about his disappointment after being released by Bury.
James faces the summer that every footballer dreads - not knowing whether he will be employed next season.
The likeable player has two children to support and though Bury have stated that they might be prepared to offer him a deal if a takeover of the club goes through, it does not help James' peace of mind.
"It is a nightmare," admitted James. "I am in limbo. Like a lot of the lads I don't want to go on holiday because I don't know whether I might need to save my money.
" Football is my livelihood and I'm upset about what's happened. It's not a nice feeling at all.
"The chairman is a great person, the manager is great but I've done exactly what I'm supposed to and to be honest I don't think I've been given enough chances. I was happy at Bury and I didn't want to leave.
"A few clubs have been on to me but I'm leaving all that to my agent. I don't know what's happening at the moment and it's hard."
It maybe hard on James but it is also wrong to knock the club.
Bury, in the position they are, had to cut their wage bill and are faced with two options: save money or go bust.
It is just unfortunate that James, and other Bury players, have been caught in the middle.
James added: "They (the club) are in a difficult position but I just think sometimes they should take individuals into account.
"My life's on hold at the moment. All I want to do is play football week in, week out and ideally for Bury. I'll just have to wait and see what happens but it's not easy."
Bury are aware of James' position and do sympathise with the striker.
The club are hopeful of being able to offer him a new contract if a takeover is sorted out.
Manager Andy Preece said: "I've spoken to Lutel and he knows the situation. Lutel James is a superb professional and has never been a problem. He always gives 100 per cent effort. He is someone who the other players should model themselves on.
"He's a straight-talking lad and if he's got something to say then he'll say it. Hopefully we can get something sorted out at a later date."
