I AM sorry, but I must have seen a different Westhoughton carnival to the one reported in the Bolton Evening News on Monday.
Only in Britain could we continue with a parade when clearly neither the participants nor the spectators were prepared for the weather. The poor Rose Queens where bundled into sheets, given an umbrella and presumably asked to smile! The bands half heartedly played occasionally and the Morris Dancers looked cold wet and miserable. The one cheery face was that of the DJ on the Red Lion float. Westhoughton should be ashamed of itself, that, coupled with the disgraceful attack on the beer tent, it should be a clear indication that the carnival should have a complete overhaul, or let's just call it a day.
