I'VE read a number of items in the Bolton Evening News about the Town Hall Square and the so-called fountains.
Which mogul in their ivory tower thought of that idea? The fountains look like they are unfinished pyramids. Whoever thought of the fountains should get them finished as pyramids and seal themselves in.
If Bolton want to compete against other towns such as Manchester or the Trafford Centre and bring business and shoppers in to Bolton, the powers-that-be should go and have a look at Barcelona fountains. Now that IS a water display. It makes ours look like a builder's disaster. Something that went wrong. Come on Bolton Councillors, you've got to speculate to accumulate. Coloured dancing water to music, re-design the town centre to incorporate that kind of a fountain.
Seal off the road round the Albert Halls and Le Mans Crescent for coaches, so they can park close by for when the fountains strike up at dusk. Bolton needs a centrepiece to draw shoppers in this ever competing world. Bolton town centre will be a ghost town with shops closing, rents and rates are far too high.
Bolton Council should go to Barcelona and talk to their councillors. The people of Bolton deserve something better than what they have got.
