A COMMUNITY play created by a Bolton team of writers and researchers, using the memories of the town's pensioners and the talents of local actors, has had to extend its run due to popular demand.
Tickets for One Hundred Years in work Town have proved so popular that the show's three nights planned for the Bolton Octagon's Bill Naughton Theatre sold out a week in advance.
In response to demand a Saturday matinee will be performed at 2pm on Saturday.
The play premieres tonight and tickets are still available for the Saturday afternoon show at £3 or £2 concessions.
Memories from Bolton pensioners have been researched for the home grown play, and their words will be spoken by many of the town's well known amateur actors.
Project leader Stephen Fielding said: "Public interest in the play has been staggering. Playing to packed houses is a wonderful reward for all the work of the actors, writers, researchers and everyone else in the project.
"I think people are so interested because of the local aspect. I am delighted by the response. I have been told the telephones have not stopped ringing the last few days at the Octagon box office."
