A MAN already in jail for burglary was brought before a court to be sentenced for a break-in he committed 2 years ago.
A judge sent him to jail for 10 months but because Keith Gildart is already serving a two-year sentence for burglary imposed in March, he will serve no extra time.
Gildart, aged 22, of Kirkhall Lane, Leigh, appeared from custody at Bolton Crown Court to be sentenced for a burglary he committed in February 1999. Judge Bruce Macmillan said that even if the offence had been taken into account when he was jailed for two years in March, it would not have merited a longer sentence. He jailed Gildart for 10 months to be served concurrently with the current sentence.
Two video recorders, worth a total of £400, and a £50 personal stereo had been taken in the burglary at a house in Astley.
Fingerprints found in the bathroom were eventually traced to Gildart who was arrested.
He admitted the offence and said he had sold the goods to buy drugs.
The court was told that Gildart was serving a two-year sentence for burglary imposed in March and that his earliest release date would be February 10 next year.
