RUNNERS of all abilities have the chance to compete on the fantastic new all- weather track at the Bolton Arena this weekend.
As part of the weekend-long celebrations to mark the official opening of the £15 million multi-sports development, Horwich RMI Harriers are organising 5K races for men and women on Saturday afternoon.
The entry fee for each is £2.50 on the day and all the proceeds go to the Mayor of Bolton's charity to support the Bolton Hospice and Christie Hospital.
The women's race starts at 1.15pm and the men's at 3.15pm. Both races are for over 18s.
Organiser Gareth Hughes said: "It doesn't matter if you are a complete novice, you are welcome to come and see what it is like to run on a top flight track and soak up the atmosphere. If we get too many entrants for one race, we will have two or more and the trophies will go to the runners recording the best times. There will be trophies for the winner and leading veteran in both the men's and women's races."
