A SERIES of new roadworks schemes are expected to cause disruption and bring further misery to motorists across Bolton next week.
On Sunday work starts to resurface a section of carriageway in Leigh Road, Westhoughton, resulting in temporary traffic lights. Surfaces on a section of Slater Street in Bolton Town Centre will also be repaired from Sunday.
Resurfacing along a stretch of Chorley Road in Westhoughton starts on Sunday and off-peak re-surfacing work begins on Monday along Manchester Road in Hulton Park.
Extensive work along De Haviland Way, next to the Reebok Stadium in Horwich, is scheduled to finish on Monday, but Bolton Council's highways chiefs say resurfacing is expected to run for another week.

Motorists face disruption next week in:
Blackrod and Horwich: BT are laying 11 metres of cable in Crown Lane. North West Water continue to conduct work in James Street, Mansell Way and Ox Hey Lane until August 20; Harper Green: Transco work continues in Plodder Lane and Bolton Council work in Roseneath Grove; Kearsley: work continues in High Stile Street, Market Street. Work is due to begin to Tarmac Kearsley Roundabout next weekend; Hulton Park: resurfacing work starts on Sunday in Leigh Road, Westhoughton. Temporary lights will operate. Work will continue in Newbrook Road and Manchester Road until mid-August; Bromley Cross: Pavement resurfacing work in Turton Road is expected to finish next week. Another programme of off-peak work will run from August; Central Bolton: Work starts for 24 hours on Sunday in Slater Street. Minor work continues in Tennyson Street, Church Road and Brownlow Way.
Weekend re-surfacing of the A580 East Lancashire Road will start tomorrow and continue on Sunday. Another scheme will be conducted on Saturday July 21/22. 30 mph limits will operate.
Major roadworks will continue next week on; Raikes Lane, Burnden, Manchester Road's Skew Bridge and Church Wharf subway. All three will affect St Peter's Way.
Bridge re-strengthening on Rumworth Road, between Regent Road and Middlebrook Drive and Green Lane for two years. Road closures and diversions in Mansell Way, Horwich. Transco works in Bradshaw will move into their final week of operation.
