IF Dr Brian Iddon MP wants to talk about his party's national policies affecting Farnworth (Your Views July12) why does he not mention things like petrol at £4 a gallon?
Tony Blair smiles on his billboard photo pledging no tax rises and now admits that the tax burden has gone up under Labour.
The Wigan and Bolton Health Authority Should get more money as it used to be just the Bolton Health Authority. A friend of mine's elderly father had to wait four hours for an ambulance only two weeks ago (ordered by his GP).
When he finally got to the hospital there wasn't a bed but fortunately just as he was about to suffer the humiliation of being put in a corridor a bed became available.
Farnworth police station all but closed. There was a story only recently in the BEN about the residents of a Farnworth street wanting an access only order. But the police refused to support the application because they do not have the resources to enforce such things.
Businesses are continually deserting Farnworth, citing reasons like poor parking facilities. The gas shop went, the electric shop went. Ken's on the way out of his Den (shop on Market Street), Woolworth's will be next when its superstore opens. The "superloos" are a joke for someone with a pram. Farnworth market got revamped but it is still windswept on a rainy day. Brackley Street was pedestrianised; Bolton town centre got a £1 million facelift.
Sorry, Dr Iddon, but a letter full of rhetoric and half truths won't brainwash me into thinking us Farnworthians are living "The Life of Brian."
