A Winter

Hill Tale LONG ago I do say, up on Winter Hill

A man was tempted, for to kill,

An innocent Scotsman, by the name

Of Henderson, of long-held fame,

Who had a stump erected then

For reasons now beyond our Ken.

Today still stands the "Scotsman's Stump"

The ones who then erected it

Had certainly got the hump.

So shocked by the dastardly deed

They quickly then did find the need

To honour that poor wandering soul,

Who ne'er alas! did reach his goal

But was cut down, and yet I say

Are things much different today?
