A FARMER has been allowed to remain in his life-long home until next spring amid plans to extend a golf course.
Arnold Davenport, aged 57, a tenant farmer for the last 43 years at Nab Gate Farm, Harwood, has been allowed to stay in the farmhouse until March 2002 following an out-of-court settlement in Bolton yesterday.
The case hearing between landowner Mr Chris Holt and Mr Davenport was scheduled to take place at Bolton County Court yesterday lunch-time.
However, the case did not proceed and an out-of-court settlement was reached instead.
The exact details of the settlement are still being sorted out by both parties.
The farmland is expected to be subject of a planning application to become an extension of Breightmet Golf Club.
Mr Davenport was unavailable for comment today.
