A WELL known figure was today celebrating 75 years of continuous service to education in Bolton.
Leslie Huyton began his teaching career in August 1926.
And he is still serving as the chairman of governors at a local primary school.
Mr Huyton has worked in various schools and was headteacher at Brandwood CP in Brandwood Street, Daubhill for 21 years until he retired in 1971. After that he served as a councillor and as a school governor.
Mr Huyton, aged 95, who is chairman of governors at St Michael's CE Primary in Green Lane, Great Lever said: "I have enjoyed 75 years of unbroken service to education and I am very proud to have achieved that."
