GEORGE Hawkrigg has melted hearts of staff at one high street store -- because of a lost teddy bear called Blue.
Marks and Spencer has promised a fairy tale ending for the Bolton boy.
George, aged two, was distraught after losing his favourite bear.
It is thought that he lost it between Manchester and Spain, where he went on a holiday with his mum and dad two weeks ago.
To make things worse, the bear, bought from Marks and Spencer four years ago, is no longer being made.
But the store has promised to make a one-off bear, just for him.
But his family -- embarrassed at having to put the international company to such trouble -- is appealing to people to search their cupboards for a similar blue bear they might no longer want.
His mum Monique said: "I know it is just a teddy bear and not a matter of life-and-death.
"But every parent will understand what we have been going through. This bear went everywhere with George.
"He can't sleep and is making himself ill. We've bought him another bear, but he says it bites!
"We have had the airlines, travel companies and airports searching for this bizarre looking blue teddy with long arms. There was even an appeal by the air stewards on the plane.
"Marks and Spencer has been brilliant. The company has been in touch with the original manufacturer and says it will make us an identical replacement if no one comes forward."
A spokesman for the company said: "We are delighted to be able to help George and are proud to have been able to promise him a replacement bear.
"We are glad that the story has a happy ending."
The family is prepared to pay for a similar blue bear and anyone who can help can call George's parents on 01204 695779.
