HOW very ironic.
I have just read in the BEN (August 8) that our MP Ruth Kelly "is giving her full backing" to the Government's Green Environment Policy. This at a time when the Bolton Council is considering a planning application that would cover Ruth Kelly's house in Mallard Drive with filthy black coal dust.
I refer, of course, to the proposed coal storage and distribution yard at the Horwich/Blackrod boundary. A similar coal yard is in operation in Wigan, and houses a mile away are covered in coal dust.
It would be truly ironic if Bolton MP Ruth Kelly, a strong supporter of the Government's Green Environment Policy, was condemned by Bolton Council to suffer from this proposed development.
