BOLTON West MP Ruth Kelly has welcomed a new target for 80 per cent of programmes on digital terrestrial television to be subtitled. The previous target set in 1996 was 50 per cent.
She said: "Many constituents have contacted me on this matter and urged me to lobby the Government to secure this change.
"The Government have acted on the many representations on this issue by MPs on behalf of deaf people and I applaud the action taken by the Culture Secretary."
