OPENER Mark Chilton hit a gallant 74 in the final day of the Roses clash at Old Trafford today but Lancashire still faced a demoralising defeat
When play resumed today Andrew Flintoff was soon out, bowled by Hamilton for 43. Lancs also lost Scuderi and Lloyd cheaply.
But Chilton and vice-captain Warren Hegg (19) steadied the sinking ship briefly before Chilton fell.
At lunch Lancs trailed by 53 runs with only five wickets remaining.
