TRAFFIC is flowing across a major Bolton bridge on a key route to the Royal Bolton Hospital for the first time in more than two months.
Late yesterday afternoon Bolton Council engineers re-opened Green Lane bridge in Great Lever.
Vehicles which do not exceed three tonnes can now travel across the bridge in the direction of Manchester Road, which means that ambulances can use the bridge.
The bridge was closed for safety reasons in a joint move by Railtrack and the council.
Assistant director of highways management Jeff Layer said: "It is good news for motorists."
