A SHOP assistant caught stealing food from her employer during a spot check has been convicted of theft.
A random check by the manager at the Co-op store in Westhoughton revealed that Anne Sefton had food in her bag she could not provide a receipt for.
Yesterday Sefton, aged 45, of Greenhead Walk, Bolton, appeared at Bolton Crown Court on the second day of her trial charged with theft. She had denied the offence.
The court was told that the Co-op manager carried out a spot check on December 23 last year.
Yesterday Judge Reginald Lockett fined her £75 and ordered her to pay £150 court costs.
