A TEENAGER has been sentenced to eight months in youth custody after being caught trying to pass cannabis to a prisoner on remand.
The 16-year-old, who was appearing before magistrates in Bury after being convicted by a court in Salford, was said to have committed the offence at Forrest Bank prison in Salford last December.
The court was told that while visiting a prisoner the youth, who comes from the Whitefield area and cannot be named because of his age, was seen trying to pass a small quantity of cannabis to the prisoner.
After being convicted of supplying or offering to supply a controlled drug the teenager was given an eight-month detention and training order.
