MANCHESTER United footballer Ryan Giggs is reported to have bought his mum a new £800,000 mansion in Worsley.

The winger has treated his mother, Lynne, to the home of her dreams because he was worried about her safety.

The six-bedroom property is not yet complete, but Ryan and his mum have reportedly been regular visitors to the site in Worsley.

Giggs, aged 27, lives in a £1 million home near Bolton. He has bought the new home for his mum from the £2 million he is expected to have earned from his testimonial year.

Three years ago Lynne's present £100,000 cottage in Swinton was attacked by arsonists who pushed lit paper through her letterbox. Her other son, Rhodri, who lived with her, has just been jailed following a bar assault.

Giggs has insisted that the new house should have electronic security gates and hopes it will be a safe haven for the woman he describes as "the best mum in the world".
