TO conclude Bolton United Harriers McDonalds League GirlsTeam's (under 13's, 15's and 17's) first season in Division One, the last match was recently held at Bury AC.
With many athletes away on holiday or competing for the women's senior team, there was plenty to do for the ones left and all those who competed gave 110 per cent effort to help the cause.
The mixed weather was overshadowed by the hot performances on show with no less than nine athletes setting a total of 13 personal best performances.
The girls competed very well against teams from Stockport, Preston, Bury, Blackburn and Hyndburn and finished the match in fourth place. This excellent result was enough to ensure the team's survival in this division with a season's very creditable final position of third place overall.
What is very pleasing for team manager, Paul Aspen, is the number of younger athletes that have not only joined the club but who are willing to compete and give their best week in and week out for the team. This bodes well for the future of the team and the club as a whole as the girls move through the different age groups, especially as we have a number of girls that are as yet still too young to compete.
