A SENIOR council officer has been suspended following allegations of sexual harassment by two female workers.
Town hall officials in Bolton were remaining tight-lipped about the investigation this morning.
A council spokesman said: "I can confirm that complaints have been received against an individual and that they are being investigated. I can't say anything else beyond that."
The case is being investigated by other council officers who are interviewing the man's colleagues.
They have the power to recommend his sacking if the allegations are found to be true.
He has a right to appeal if he is unhappy with their verdict. Ultimately, the final decision would rest with councillors.
One councillor told the BEN: "I have heard these accusations although we haven't been told a great deal. We just have to remember that he's innocent until proven guilty."
