A SCHOOLGIRL wept as she told a court she was raped by a married teacher from a Bolton school who befriended her at a student trade fair.
The 17-year-old said she had put her trust in history teacher Lee Savage to walk her back to the holiday park where they were staying after a night out.
But the teenager claimed Savage, head of history at Sharples School, instead led her across fields and a stream where he found an empty chalet.
Once there 31-year-old Savage allegedly pushed the blonde virgin schoolgirl on to a double bed, where he forced her to perform a sex act.
The girl broke down in tears as she told the jury that Savage then pulled off her skirt and raped her.
She said she tried desperately to stop him, but he carried on and sniggered when she told him he would lose his career as a teacher.
She only managed to get free when one of her friends, who became concerned when she failed to return to her caravan, began shouting her name near to the chalet.
In the morning the girl told her friend that she had been raped.
The jury was told that the girl had travelled from her school in Lancashire for a Young Enterprise Programme trade fair on the Isle of Wight.
The girl was a co-ordinator for the business trade fair and looked after younger pupils who set up craft tables and sold goods they had made. Savage, meanwhile, had travelled with pupils from Sharples to the island to assist in the running of the fair.
The event at Shanklin was attended by 450 pupils and teachers from the West Pennines region, many of whom stayed at the Haven Holiday Park in the town.
The girl told Winchester Crown Court that on March 31 this year she had gone out with friends to a disco on the complex for a drink.
She added that she had drunk three Bacardi and Cokes, then a "few more" and finally a bottle of Smirnoff Ice.
She said that at about 1am her friends left her and she sat on a chair near to Savage.
After having a brief conversation she said she then left the disco at the Squires Club, but noticed someone behind her.
The girl said: "I turned around and could see it was Lee Savage who was behind me.
"He said 'I'll walk you back to your caravan' and I said 'No I'm fine on my own'.
"But he insisted on walking me back. I agreed because he was a teacher and he knew I was drunk -- I thought he was responsible and was just going to see me home.
"I was stumbling because the drink had made me pretty unsteady. Savage helped me to keep my feet.
"Next I remember we stepped over a small fence and ended up down an embankment and went over a stream.
"I was just saying 'where are we going, what are we doing,' but he didn't say anything.
"He had hold of my arm, I was scared because I did not know where he was taking me."
The girl said they reached a chalet and Savage opened the door.
She said: "He pulled me inside, having hold of my right arm. He then opened a door and pulled me in and pushed me onto the bed.
"I tried to stand up as soon as I hit the bed but couldn't. I was just panicking."
The girl then told the court that she was forced to have sex with Savage in an ordeal which lasted for about 20 minutes. It ended when Savage heard one of her friend's calling her name from outside the chalet.
The girl said she then fled the chalet and came across her worried friend who escorted her back to their caravan. She added: "I just went and had a shower and then went to bed."
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she broke down as she confided in her friend later that morning and the police were called.
Peter Glenser, prosecuting, told the court Savage was arrested at the holiday park later that day.
When interviewed he admitted having sexual intercourse with the girl but said it was consensual.
Savage claimed the girl herself had been looking for empty caravans as they walked back together. Mr Glenser added that a police doctor who examined the girl had found three bruises on her right forearm, bruising on the upper part of her left arm and the kneecap.
He added: "She had never had sexual intercourse with anyone in her life before.
"The crown says that this was rape and indecent assault and that she was not consenting."
Savage, of Roseland Drive, Prestwich, denies rape and indecent assault.
