FAMILIES and communities in Bolton are being encouraged to pick up a book through the new Reading Families Millennium Awards Scheme. Anyone aged over 21 with a good idea for getting people reading together is being urged to apply for one of 400 national awards.
The scheme will offer grants of up to £3,500, plus training and support, and is aimed at groups such as the elderly, ethnic minorities and even prisoners.
Projects could be anything from setting up a website to producing a community cookery book. They will focus on families in the broadest sense, from parents and children to groups and communities.
To apply for an information pack and application form call Tracy Bevan on 01925 419052, or visit the website at www.campaign-for-learning.org.uk
