THE top game in B Section saw section leaders Farnworth and District Vets visit Nationwide.
Farnworth led the section by two points over Nationwide, and the earlier game had resulted in a draw between them.
Nationwide trailed 59-48 at the half way stage, but a recovery in the second innings saw Nationwide the victors by 95-86. This result leaves both teams level on 27 points each.
In the same section Prices A beat North West Energy 158-100 and are now in third spot, some three points behind with two more games remaining.
Markland CTC and Superior Pet XI D now share second spot after Superior Pet beat Markland 197-157.
The Volunteer still continue to win with an innings win 167-90 over Walkers, but Bradbury Ladies and Heaton CC B still continue to chase.
K2 Ladies appear strong favourites to win I Section, but Esporta Ladies A and Edge Hill Ladies continue to battle for second place. Rigby's Runners are waiting for the above teams to slip up, but they have only two games remaining.
Freedom Ladies M Section are the first team to win championship honours, when they beat New Recruits 150(I)-131.
In the quarter finals of the Finestyle Windows, the Volunteer beat Little Lever CC A 166-148. The Volunteer received 65 runs start, but no doubt the Little Lever team would blame their batting performance for failing to bat their 20 minutes in either innings.
Little Lever XI, the only team left from Section A in the competition had a convincing win 195(I)-180 over Farnworth Dist Vets.
CRS received an 80 run start from Walkden CC A, but the handicap was not needed when they won 262-118
Horwich RMI beat The Grapes 199-164. The Grapes did receive 60 runs start, but a much closer game was expected.
Rigby's Runners beat Edge Hill Ladies 236-175 to reach the semi final in the Finestyle Windows/Dorothy Clarke competition.
Walkden CC B also qualified for the semi final stage when they beat Starlight XI 203-195. The 20 run start that Walkden received proved decisive.
Advance Computer Systems had to concede 70 runs start to Victory Hotel (cor), but once more the handicap proved right when Advance won the game 154-152.
Westhoughton Central XI and Smithills Coaching House A was a scratch game, but Smithills Coaching House appeared to be in trouble at the half way stage when they trailed 82-34. The second innings was a complete reversal, when Smithills outscored their opponents by 197(D)-93 to leave Smithills winners. The match card revealed that Victoria Scaldwell was top scorer in the game with 46 runs for the Westhoughton team.
The semi finals for these games will be played on Sunday, August 26, with CRS v The Volunteer (+20) and Little Lever XI (20 mins) v Horwich RMI (+180) for the Finestyle.
In the Dorothy Clarke, Advance Computer Systems (20 mins) v Walkden CC B (+80), while Smithills Coaching House A (+10) v Rigby's Runners. The venue for all the semi final games as yet is not known.
On Thursday the Bolton Senior Inter League team will play Bury at Bolton Road Sports Club, Elton Vale Road, Bury.
On Friday, the Dixon Shieild Final, Carl Chapman XI A will play Superior Pet XI at Darcy Lever CC.
