THE Goldline Trophy - in association with the Bolton Evening News - is hotting up as the competition reaches the quarter-final stages.
Atherton Collieries reached the last eight last night with a goalless draw at Brightmet United - the only team who could deny them progression.
Ex-Bolton Wanderers striker Nicky Fisher spurned four glorious chances to put Collieries through in style but both sides became bogged down in a very scrappy encounter that failed to yield goals.
Collieries will now play Daisy Hill in the quarter-finals as all of the groups are now decided. The sole remaining game of the first phase is on Thursday, when Tempest United play their game with Brightmet United that was re-scheduled from last week. The game kicks-off at 6:30pm, and this will be the prelude to a lengthy break from Goldline action as the venues for the four quarter-finals are determined.
