Asda Logic West Lancs by John Bullen TEMPEST United chairman Alan Westhead has already decided who will win the league championship - defending Premier title holders Kirkham and Wesham.

"They are one of the best teams I've seen in a long, long time," said the Tempest chairman after his team's 8-2 defeat by the champs.

"Already it looks as though the rest of us are chasing second place. Credit to our lads, heads didn't go down but we were beaten by a far, far better side that I think could win the North West Counties never mind our league."

Darren Maloney took his season tally to five with both goals for Tempest.

The Reserves continued their bright start with Lowe getting the vital only goal in a 1-0 home win over Freckleton.

Blackrod Town dropped their first points of the season in a 1-1 home draw with Garstang, Collier the scorer, while Eagley beat Freckleton 3-0 at home, Mel Bentham with two and Clinton McLoughlin with one.

Goals from Finch and Wadson were of little consolation to Turton in a 5-2 Division One defeat at Wigan SMR while Paul Davies was the Stoneclough scorer in a 1-1 Division Two away draw at Barrow Rangers.
