I AM writing with regard to Bolton Metro's war against local motorists.
On the Deansgate side of Le Mans Crescent, between the arches and the "pay and display" spaces, there is room for two or three cars, and although there are double yellow lines on the roadway, it appears to be an appropriate place for disabled motorists to park. But beware -- it is a trap.
A close examination of the kerb shows that faint traces still remain of what used to be a series of short yellow lines, and orange badge holders who park there may receive a ticket, as I did a few days ago.
I think that before the Council starts to hound the motorists, it should remember that it has a duty to ensure that its traffic markings are clearly visible, and of the correct shape and size.
I do not intent to pay my fixed penalty, and urge others who have been similarly caught out and paid up, to apply for refund.
