IN response to Mr Rimbaud's comments in Friday's Bolton Evening News I would to draw his and other readers attention to the diverse programme of events that are being presented at Bolton Festival 2001.

Yes, there are some events that are being held again as they have proved to be favourites with Bolton people- the Street Entertainment, the Victorian Street Market which raises £1000's for charity, the Street Art Exhibition, performances by

Bolton Little Theatre and the Orchestral Concert.

There are new events taking place in the Town Centre - music and dance in the Art Gallery, arts workshops, tours of the aquarium and the opportunity to see behind the scene at the Court as well as the one day event relating to sport!

Families are being catered for with free events such as the Family History day at Smithills Hall and the Tudor Day at Hall'i'th'Wood.

Among the well-known people performing are Neil Smith (whom we were unable to get last year as he was playing for the Queen Mother), King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys who recently broke box office records at Ronnie Scott's Club in London and Ken Dodd, always a sell out.

In addition, the public will be able to watch the Music School Dance Group from Paderborn prior to their American Tour and tapestry of Music fresh from their participation in Folk Festivals in France.

Bolton Festival encourages local people to take part in the events as well as national and international performers.

It is one of the few Festivals that can be called a Community Festival This year's Festival is providing a programme that will be accessible to many people through both free and paid events.

We hope that Mr Rimbaud will attend some of these events and enjoy them rather than pre judge them from the programme!!
