KEEPER Jussi Jaaskalainen has told fans that shot-shy Wanderers will be firing on all cylinders in time for the big Premiership kick off on Saturday.
Fans have been concerned about the lack of goals Sam Allardyce's side have scored during a disappointing pre-season campaign.
But jbefore Bolton take on Leicester in their opening fixture, Jaaskalainen revealed the reason.
He said the emphasis in training has been on defence, common sense given that Wanderers will be up against some of the best strikers in the world during the next nine months.
Jaaskalainen claimed failure to hit the target during games against Athletico Bilbao, Alaves and Halifax shouldn't worry the Reebok faithful too much - as this week is being dedicated to fine-tuning the strikers.
Dean Holdsworth, Michael Ricketts and the rest of the Whites forward line will be getting extra shooting practice on the training ground to make sure they are in tip-top shape for the Filbert Street opener.
"We didn't create many chances in attack against Alaves but that's nothing to get too worried about as far as I can see," explained Jaaskelainen.
"The main thing we were focusing on for the game was making sure we closed the opposition down quickly and effectively as well as improving our fitness levels.
"We hadn't been practising too much attacking in training.
"We've got just over a week of training to go before the start of the new Premiership season and I'm sure everyone will be getting plenty of target practice between now and then."
Jaaskalainen himself has had a better than expected pre-season and looks likely to get the nod for the Leicester clash.
It is a remarkable a turnaround for the popular keeper who feared he would be out for a year after suffering a horrendous knee ligament injury last season.
But just six months later he is back on the pitch and though the Finn is not fully fit, he is not far off.
"My knee is absolutely fine but because I missed the start of pre-season and some of the friendlies we've played, I need to work hard over the next few days to get 100 per cent fit," Jaaskalainen said.
"I'll be hoping to get at least another couple of games under my belt before the 18th as well, and hopefully by then I will have done enough to convince the manager that I am worthy of a place in the starting line-up against Leicester City."
