A MOTORIST was hit about the head and body by a thief wielding a monkey wrench during a car hijacking yesterday.
The 36-year-old man was getting out of his Alfa Romeo car in Rochford Avenue, Whitefield, when he was approached by the thug who demanded the keys.
The driver was then hit over the head and on his arm by the robber who made off with the black Y-reg car.
Whitefield CID has launched an investigation into the hijacking, which happened at 6.40pm last night.
The thief is described as white, aged about 20, slim, clean shaven, and wearing a black baseball cap and dark sweatshirt.
Police said the victim declined hospital treatment. Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact detectives on 0161 856 8248.
