ANGERED and frustrated by his unsuccessful efforts to land his top summer transfer targets, Allardyce has hit out at agents he believes helped scupper the £3.5 million Sylvain Distin deal he set up with PSG.

After persuading the French giants to part with the highly-rated young defender at the second attempt, he was left no alternative but to look elsewhere when the player said he did not want to come to Bolton.

"It was disappointing," the manager said, "but a lot of other factors came into the equation, such as agents who had nothing to do with the deal initially, getting to the player and putting him off the club."
