A house in Great Lever was flooded with sewage during storms last night.
Firefighters from Bolton had to borrow specialist equipment from Eccles to pump out the sewage from the terraced house in Parkfield Road after underground pipes became full of rain and overflowed.
The effluent poured into the kitchen of the house and caused considerable damage to the floor at 7.30pm.
The home owner, who lives alone, was advised to stay out of the kitchen for the next few days.
