COUNCIL tax payers in Little Hulton, Walkden and Worsley are being given the chance to pay their bills using the internet.
Salford City Council has become one of just a handful of local authorities in the country to offer council tax payment on-line.
The new computerised system will mean that Salford residents can avoid queues at counters.
It will also enable customers to find out about their council tax balance, inform the local authority of a change of address or fill in an interactive form to apply for help in paying a council tax bill.
And there are further plans to set up other services on the internet, such as rent payment.
Councillor Derek Antrobus, lead member for corporate services at Salford City Council, said: "This new quick and convenient facility signals the start of a revolution in the way Salford will be communicating with its customers.
"Using a bank debit card or credit card, people can pay their council tax or find out about their latest council tax balance in a matter of seconds."
He added: "It makes life easier for busy Salford residents who are trying to juggle their jobs with their home-life and leisure time."
