HAVING read with interest the letters regarding Mr Russell and the parking ticket issue, I entirely sympathize with him.
I drop my son off in town around that time in a morning and all spaces are usually free, so any disabled driver, should they wish to park, could do so.
But the main point of this row has been ignored. Mr Russell felt, quite rightly from what I have seen of the town centre at that time, that his wife would have to be escorted to work so that she may arrive safely.
People of Bolton, should we not be asking the powers-that-be that if funds can be found to enforce traffic laws at that hour of day, why cannot a police presence in the same area also not be there, so that Mr Russell would not have to worry about his wife's safety? This is the real issue in this case.
