BOLTON Wanderers fans are set to descend on Leicester in droves tomorrow for the start of the club's new Premiership campaign.

The Whites are aiming to make a success of their third taste of the big league and are hopeful they will avoid relegation this time.

The Wanderers will be followed by 2,000 fans travelling down to the East Midlands to cheer them on.

And Bolton Wanderers supporters club secretary Eileen Rigby is confident the club will stay up this time around.

She said: "I have great faith in Sam Allardyce. He is a brilliant manager who is fully in control of the team affairs.

"There is a good chance we will avoid relegation this time around. Other teams like Derby, Leicester, Southampton and Everton are in a similar situation to us.

"They are also struggling for money and have squads which are on the same level.

"We were really unlucky to go down last time and were only relegated because of a bad decision by the referee."

Bolton slumped back into the First Division in 1998 when Everton just nudged ahead on goal difference.

The Wanderers had fought a nailbiting contest against Chelsea in a game they had to draw. In the end they lost 2-0 with goals from Vialli and Morris in the dying minutes.

Everton, meanwhile, drew with Coventry. Had the Merseysiders lost, Bolton would have been offered a lifeline.

The agony will be forgotten tomorrow, however, at Filbert Street, when the team will aim to bag the goals in the first of 38 Premiership matches.

Mrs Rigby said: "I think the past will be left in the past when we go out on Saturday.

"There are a lot of high hopes for the team. The squad is quite strong and, of course, staying up will mean more money for us to get stronger the season after. There is a lot to play for."
