HAVING read in the BEN about the building of another mosque in Bolton, and the need for religious tolerance, I wonder about the Talibans laws in Afghanistan -- to teach Christianity in that country is to incur the death penalty.

I remember the marches in Bolton, when a death threat was made against Salman Rushdie for writing a book that "insulted Allah".

Around 610AD, Mohammed was visited by the angel Gabriel, who instructed him to preach in Mecca, and there he wrote the first verses of the Koran, saying there is only one true God, Allah.

The founder of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith, was visited by an angel in 1827, who revealed to him the whereabouts of gold tablets written on by a native American prophet named Mormon, to whom Smith passed on the sacred message. Thus the Mormon Church was founded.

Moses had the commandments presented to him by God on tablets of stone. And I have recently read that the leader of the Moonies claims he is God!

It is all confusing. We have the Son of God, Jesus, who could walk on water, raise the dead, and perform other miracles.

Men write books in the name of their particular God, people believe in their varied messages.

I have been led to believe that men have walked on the moon. I know that this is a fallacy as I believe the moon is made of green cheese...
