HAVE all the sergeant major-type Clerks of Works disappeared for ever?
They were guardians of public money inasmuch, if contractors failed to meet the required standards, he had the authority to withhold payment until satisfactory work was done.
After seeing the smooth surface of Victory Road, which settled down nicely, I was looking forward to our estate being done the same. What a disappointment.
A month has passed, but the loose granite chippings still litter my path (and others); if I go a short walk I have to remove my shoes and brush the loose chippings and sweep the path after using my car.
Surely we pay the same Council Tax as Victory Road tenants, so why differentiate in quality of service?
We purposely got rid of all good carpets because of the problems with dust when hoovering, and now we shall have to buy rugs for shoe-wiping.
