A CHIP shop owner believes there is something fishy going on in Bolton. It appears that residents are less than enthusiastic about fish and chips.
Chris Bardsley, who runs the St George's Chip Shop on Bath Street, Bolton, placed 10 fake fishes around the town last week offering their finders a free supper.
But in the seven days since then only two of the porcelain fishes have been returned.
Mrs Bardsley, aged 47, is wondering why the rest were not found. She said: "We put them in prominent positions, hoping people would find them and hand them back in.
"The aim was to put all the returned fishes on the walls of the shop. It was all a bit of fun really, but I do hope people haven't lost their taste for fish and chips."
The fishes were placed within a mile of the shop. Mrs Bardsley, who works with her daughter's boyfriend, Andy Killackey, aged 26, added: "I'm amazed the other eight haven't been found yet."
