THE remote site of one of Britain's rarest birds is to be given a facelift -- thanks to help from Bolton people.
Bolton members' group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has a small team, led by Horwich woman Chris Johnson, who sell RSPB branded goods throughout the year.
Items include everything from greetings cards to bird tables and the local group is allowed to keep a small percentage of the profits.
A donation of £659 has been made for repairs to the paths and hide at Loch Ruthven, the most important site in the UK for the rare Slavonian grebe.
It is the second major donation from Bolton in the last few months. Recently the group gave £11,000 towards the extension of Leighton Moss reserve near Silverdale.
