FIREFIGHTERS are preparing to demonstrate their skills at a fun open day.
The free event will include a host of activities including a bouncy castle, refreshments, live fire displays and the chance to have your photograph taken with a firefighter or even to "dunk" one.
The station covers areas including Farnworth, Little Hulton, Little Lever and Walkden. It is staffed by four civilians and 65 operational firefighters.
The BEN enjoyed a sneak preview of what will be on offer during a visit to Farnworth fire station.
During the visit firefighters responded to a mock alarm, used a hose reel to put out a fire and gave a guided tour of their engines, demonstrating how all the equipment works.
The impressive Special Incident Unit was also displayed, which carries a variety of environmental protection equipment and a large supply of high expansion foam for incidents of a specialist and complex nature.
The team also demonstrated cutting the roof off a car as they might do at a road traffic accident.
The station covers a population of 10,000 people living, working and travelling through Farnworth and its surrounding areas.
The open day is being held on August 25 at Farnworth Fire Station on Brackley Street between 12 pm to 4 pm.
