THE girls did not have it all their own way in this year's A-Level results as Bolton's smallest sixth form has proved.
For the second year running the boys at Westhoughton High School have outdone their female counterparts but head-teacher Ken Vann said the difference between the sexes was marginal.
In congratulating all 48 pupils who sat A-Levels this year Mr Vann said that on a whole results were in line with expectations.
"The pupils have worked very hard and have achieved more or less what they set out to do," he said. In the aftermath of results' day Mr Vann said staff and sixth formers were now concentrating on which path they would take next.
Although Mr Vann said the vast majority of sixth formers were university bound.
"Out of the 48 who sat their exam 40 have achieved the grades they needed to get to the university of their choice," he said. "We expect that six of the other eight will be placed very soon and we are hoping to sit down with everyone and help them get to where they want to go."
