MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays as the second phase of major roadworks in Stoneclough gets underway.
Bolton Council has obtained cash to continue the maintenance of the road through Stoneclough, between Bolton Road and Bridge Street.
The scheme starts this week and is expected to last until Christmas. Council officers say the work will provide a much improved road on the A667 route and will reduce the likelihood of flooding in the future with improved drainage.
The narrow stretches of the road will mean traffic signals will be in place for periods of the works but times will be kept to a minimum.
A Bolton Council spokesman said: "We regret any inconvenience that the work will cause and we will do everything we can to minimise it."
The spokesman said that if there are any particular concerns about the work the Customer Helpline can be contacted on 01204 336677. Outside office hours calls will be transferred automatically to an emergency number.
