A MAN in court for a breach of the peace claimed he only acted in the way he did after finding police officers in his house.

Bury magistrates were told that police were initially called to an address in Walshaw after two passers by heard screams coming from the house.

When they arrived they said they met Ermanno Minero, aged 43, who said that he had been having an argument with his girlfriend but she had left and gone to her mothers.

However, the officers searched the house and found the woman upstairs suffering from a wound to her neck.

The court heard that Minero commented that everything was sorted out and he would "sort out" his girlfriend after they left. The police felt they had no choice but to arrest him.

Minero from Church Street, Bury said that it was only after the officers entered the house without his knowledge that he reacted.

In court he admitted a breach of the peace. He was bound over in the sum of £100 for a period of 12 months.
